The official languages in Hong Kong are Chinese and English. Tap water is mostly safe to drink in Hong Kong, especially in hotels. Most hotels and restaurants add on a 10% surcharge for service, however if you would still like to tip HK10 or HK$ 20 should always suffice. The hotels in Hong Kong are booked solid from April and October so it is worth bearing this in mind. The electricity supply is 220 volts, 50 Hz Hong Kong is small and crowded, which makes public transport the only practical way to get around. Fortunately the transport is very efficient and cheap. There are not many cities have a metro system as efficient, reliable, spotless, and user-friendly as Hong Kong's Mass Transit Railway.
